Job Title:                   Library Clerk (part-time)
Job Reports To:       Chief Executive Officer
Work Schedule:       9 to 15 hours per week
Salary Range:           $17.34 - $21.19
Posting Date:            October 26th, 2020

November 6th, 2020

Position Purpose:
Provides front-line customer service and in particular, greets users, provides them with information and handles loans and returns for all types of documents. 
Follows up with users on late returns (communication with users, receipt of late fees).
Participates in the preparation and smooth running of various library events and activities.
Ensures the preparation of all new releases and additions to the collections; is responsible for repairing books and maintaining the library’s shelves.

Essential Qualifications
High School Diploma
Minimum one (1) year of demonstrated experience in a similar role
Experience with computer systems and applications such as Windows, word processing software, spreadsheets, the internet and email
Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
Sound judgment
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work under pressure
Bilingualism – English and French (spoken and written)

The 2020 theme is #BecauseOfYou, celebrating the women and girls in Canada who have made, and continue to make, a lasting impact.

Nominate a woman of impact

Women of Impact in Canada is an online gallery celebrating women’s achievements and contributions to Canadian society. To be included in the gallery, candidates must meet at least one of the criteria outlined below.

Each woman of impact must have:

  • attained a high level of achievement, as determined by national or international standards;
  • advanced a social or humanitarian cause with a national impact in a leadership role;
  • achieved recognition as an expert or leader in a specific domain;
  • emerged as a pioneer in a new or non-traditional sector (including as the first in a specific field); or
  • contributed in a significant manner to events in Canada’s history.
